1. Interest in being a Founder;
2. Consistent involvement for two consecutive Founders meetings;
3. Commitment to the founding of the Sudbury School of Atlanta with the Sudbury model of education;
4. Commitment to the ongoing self-education about the Sudbury model of education as it applies to
the Sudbury School of Atlanta;
5. Active membership requires ongoing involvement at meetings and continued commitment to the
educational model and development of the school. Membership will lapse for people who miss two
consecutive meetings without prior agreement made by majority vote of the Founders.
6. Founders whose active membership has lapsed may become active again by attending two
consecutive Founders meetings and reading the minutes of missed meetings.
B. Meetings
The Founders shall meet at such intervals, and in such fashion, as it shall determine in its Rules.
Each active member of the Founders present at a meeting shall have one vote, and there shall be no voting by proxy, or absentee unless a process is created and approved by a vote of the Founders. Lapsed Founders cannot vote. The members of the Founders may also act by unanimous written consent without a meeting. Lapsed Founders are reinstated as active at the beginning of the second consecutive meeting they attend provided they have read the minutes of the missed meetings.
C. Powers and Duties
The Founders shall have the powers and duties of the Assembly and School Meeting until such time as members achieve good standing within the requirements of these Bylaws, being after the student has attended the school for at least two months after their initial enrollment, which allows the Assembly and School Meeting to become valid under these Bylaws. The Founders may, at any time, forego the two-month attendance requirement and convey the full powers of the Assembly or School Meeting detailed in these Bylaws by majority vote of the Founders.
Once the Assembly and School Meeting become valid under the requirements of these Bylaws, the powers and duties of a Founder become those of a member of the Assembly with all rights, powers and duties thereof.
